And it Begins...

Alright campers,

Here's to our 4-week challenge.

Starting tomorrow (or today, as some of you read this), we will be embarking on our journey to new levels of culinary perfection. Our approach - the "Paleo" diet with "Zone" influences.

The Paleo diet deals with quality - Meat, vegetables, some fruit and nuts, little starch, and no sugar. All natural, unprocessed foods...

The Zone diet, which deals with quantity, dials in how much we should be eating, and even breaks it down to ratios of protein/carb/fat that we want from each meal.

Excellent site to refer back to as a reference during this challenge.

THE METHOD -
Week 1 - We are going to strive to meet Paleo standards. Don't focus on quantity at *all*... especially if you are new to Paleo. Just focus on making the right choices, and eat when you are hungry.

Week 2 - Once our Paleo (quality) foods are routine, we'll dial in the quantity. Use the "Zone" prescription calculator to find your daily block count. We will stay LIBERAL here. Make a concerted effort to hover around your block count for the day, and find the balance in your meals with protein/carb/fat.

Weeks 3 + 4 - Here's where we lay it down full-force. For these final two weeks, we are going for gold. Paleo food choices, dialed in with accurate zone amounts. By the starting point of this, week 3, you will have a good understanding of what works out for you on a daily basis. You'll have your go-to foods, your favorite snacks, and a general idea of when you want to eat throughout the day. For these two weeks, it's time to test the waters so that we can really feel how proper dieting is like rocket-fuel for our lives.
